5,6,7,8...

Shaylee had her last dance recital. I think Shay was really excited! She has come along way in dance and I like watching her. I am so sad to be sending her to high school I wish she would not grow up so fast. I have tears in my eyes right now just thinking about it. Now we are onto high school drill team (she really wanted to be a cheerleader but they aren't taking freshmen this year (go figure). Shaylee should have drill team tryouts sometime this week. Good Luck to her. While I am posting about dance I thought I would put a picture of Jordan's dance group on here also. When the high school drill team was going to state they had an assembly and they asked some boys if they would dance it was so funny! Don't they look so cute. Jordan would be so embarrassed if he knew I put this on here. I love being a parent!

Baked NOT fried Chicken Taquitos

Chicken Taquitos w/ creamy cilantro lime dressing

1/3 C (3 oz) cream cheese

1/4 C green salsa

1T fresh lime juice

1/2 tsp. cumin

1 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp minced garlic

3 T chopped cilantro

2 T sliced green onions

2 C cooked shredded chicken

1 C. grated pepperjack cheese

Small corn tortillas or floured ones

cooking spray

Heat oven to 425*. Line baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.

Heat cream cheese in microwave for about 20 seconds so it's soft and easy to stir.Mix all ingredients together until combined.

If using corn tortillas which I did, they tend to break and crack so they don't look as pretty but they still taste good. ( I think next time I would use floured ones because I think they would be easier to work with although I think corn ones taste better as a taquito.) Work with a few tortillas at a time wrap in damp paper towels (I do this when I make tacos also because It makes the tortillas really soft and it doesn't break apart while eating it. Something I learned when I worked at taco maker lol). and microwave for 20 - 30 seconds I had to do the corn ones a little longer. Place 3 -4 T of chicken mixture on end of tortilla and roll up. Place on baking sheet seam side down. Spray tops with cooking spray and bake till crisp and ends are golden brown about 15-20 minutes. Serve warm they go hard after awhile. Makes about twelve.

Cilantro lime dressing

1 pack (1 oz) hidden valley ranch dressing

1C mayo

1/2 C milk

juice from one lime

2 cloves garlic minced

1/2 C chopped cilantro

1/4 C. green salsa

hot sauce just depending on how hot you want it

Put everything in a blender and blend refrigerate to thicken.

These were sooo GOOD. They were also pretty easy! Best of all you can eat alot because they are baked not fried!

I love looking at food blogs and I came across this recipe for monterey chicken and it looked so good, so I decided to try it. It was really good and my family loved it. Best of all it was easy!

Monterey Chicken

2-4 chicken breasts

1/2-1 cup bbq sauce

shredded Cheddar cheese

tomatoes chopped

green onions chopped

Bacon (cooked) a couple slices for each chicken breast

Preheat oven to 350*. Season chicken on both sides with salt and pepper. Bake in oven for 30 min. Spread bbq sauce generously over each piece of chicken and return to oven for 10 min. Sprinkle with tomatoes and green onions. ENJOY!

Frankenstien

This is Shawn in his"Labratory"

For one of Jordan's friends sixteenth birthday his mom did a live game of clue. She asked Shawn if he would be Frankenstien it was so fun. They own a farm (which is where Shawn works) and it's out in the middle of no where. They had different characters in the different old buildings and shops out there. It was done when it was dark outside and the kids had to walk to the buildings they were quiet far away from each other and the kids were in groups of five and they first had to go to the murder scene and gather the clues then they went to the different places and to figure out who was the murderer it was so much fun listening to all the screams going on around the farm. Shawn ended up being the murderer.

Footloose

Shaylee's dance group went to Tuachan to see footloose. I went with them and it was a lot of fun. They had a mechanical bull there and Shaylee rode it (she did pretty good at it).

Millard Football #55

Jordan is #55 for the Millard Eagles. I love it when it gets this time of year because I love to watch football. And plus it gives me a date night once a week with Shawn dinner and a game it doesn't get any better than that! Jordan enjoys playing and does really well. I need to get better with the camera and get some good action shots they just always turn out blurry. This week was homecoming and the cheerleaders go to all the boys house and put a sign up on their house and then there was the fire rally (used to be the bunny burn and that was much better).

Soooo Many Dirty Kids and tooo many snakes

When I was younger some of my favorite memories came from the Brunson reunion. We haven't had one for a long time so this year my mom decided to do one and judging from the turn out it must have been a good memory of a lot of peoples because there was A LOT of people there. So many little kids running around. During the day it got kind of hot so a lot of people headed for the creek to cool off. While the kids were playing in the creek some of them noticed a snake so someone went to kill it and it was a rattle snake but that was just the beginning we killed 5 rattle snakes in our camp just within a few hours. My mom had crafts for the kids to do and the picture of the pink car was one of them it is made out of a twinkie. We had a lot of fun!

Another teenager in the house

Today Shay turned 13. I think that Shawn had a moment of anxiety this morning when he realized that she was a teenager. And then it hit him that we now have two teenagers. She wanted to take friends and go to jump on it in pleasant grove so we did that on Friday and then went shopping it was fun. Shay is a good girl and we love her for that. She is always willing to help. She never argues or complains about house works she just does it. We love you Shay HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hunter turns 10

Hunter turned 10 today and I can't believe it, he's going to middle school. When Jordan and Shaylee went to middle school they seemed old enough, but Hunter doesn't. I guess that it's just because they were the oldest and he is one of my babies. Hunter is the one that looks the most like Shawn I think. He is so soft hearted he doesn't like anyone to get mad at him and he hates it when people are mean to others. He loves the outdoors he loves to go riding horses and fishing and camping. We love him very much.

Country Boys

These two boys love the country. If the weather is good and sometimes when it is not so good you will find them outside all day long. Sometimes I think Hunter should have been born into an African tribe with his dark skin and little pot belly (because he is skin and bones) and not to mention that he runs around bare foot everywhere even in the snow. He hates shoes and socks that is the first thing that comes off when he gets home. We have four horses and they love to play with them. Hunter even rides by himself in the mountains. We have a dog named gunner that they love to play with and 3 pigs soon to be 7. I know I can't belive I have so many animals because I am not an animal person. But they love it. It keeps them and Shawn busy. Right now they are working on building a barn and it's not a small one. I'll have to take pictures.

Florida

Shawn sister got married and she lives in Florida. So we took the opertunity to go for a little vacation. The plane ride there was awful! We were flying over tornados and the plane was being tossed back and forth and then we would free fall for aways and then it would level out and then it would start again I seriosly thought we were going to die. When we landed everyone was saying that was the worst plane ride they have ever been on. We stayed in the hotel in the picture at the bottom. the top of the hotel was a resturaunt and it spun around while you ate you got to see a panaramic view of the ocean. The hotel was really nice our room had a balcany the third pic up is the view we had from our hotel. We went to Busch Gardens while we were there that is the picture of the roller coaster it dosen't have a floor and it hangs you over the edge and then drops you straight down but after the plane ride it was nothing! We also went to a place called fort desota that is the picture of us in the jail. It's an old army fort on the beach. While we were there we went across a bridge and there were a bunch of dolphins swimming in the ocean it was pretty neat. It was a nice little vacation. I wish we could have taken the kids but it was nice with just the two of us. It was also spring break there in Tampa so you can imagine the thing's we saw (I felt way over dressed if you know what I mean). The food was so good all we ate was seafood.

When did this happen?

Jordan Turns 15 today. I can't believe it! It seems like just yesterday he was the baby in these pictures. And now every time I turn around he is begging me to drive. These are two of my favorite baby pictures of him. I love his huge blue eyes. I think that the second one looks like a porcelain doll but with a snotty nose. Jordan has always been his own person and if there is a way that is not normal to do something he will find it and do it. Even though it sometimes (almost always drives me crazy) it is a good quality to have. I love that Jordan is always concerned about others (except when I pick him up from school and he has a bloody nose because he was sticking up for his friend when a senior is picking on him). I love that Jordan is not yet the typical teenager (he still loves being with his family). I love it when he just out of the blue comes up and gives me a big hug! I love watching him play football and wrestle.

Mine and Sarah's husbands have a mistress

For Christmas we got this thing called a wii and it has now taken over our lives! I decided I would blog about this when Jordan stayed home from school because he was sick or so I thought (he really was sick although not sick enough aparently) I was up cleaning the kitchen and heard yelling down stairs knowing that only Jordan was down there I peek down the stairs and there was Mike and Jordan playing the wii in the middle of the day when Mike should have been at work and Jordan at school. This is the noise that I have been hearing everynight while laying in my bed alone since before christmas because Shawn and Mike would get it out after the kids had gone to sleep and play till midnight so when my kids got it for Christmas it was already well used. Well Sarah and i thought that it would only last a few weeks and then it would get old to them. It hasn't yet. Sarah will get in the shower at night and Mike will sneek over to my house or she will go into another room and he will disappear. They are in the youngmens togeather and for their activities they want to plan a wii party. Needless to say my little kids hardly ever get to play. They text each other and their message is do you have a wii itch now that doesn"t sound good but when they get that message it means game on.Well me and Sarah will continue to go to bed by ourselves and I will listen to all the yelling coming from the basement and we will keep hoping that some day they will grow up.

The joys of Christmas

On Thursday it was a crazy day. Jordan had an appointment for an MRI in Provo so we headed up at 7:30 in the morning his appointment was at 9:30 the roads were awful we didn't get there till 10:30. We got his MRI done and were going to do a little Christmas shopping but the roads were so bad and Shaylee had a dance recital she had to be to at 5:30 and we didn't want to be pushed for time so we headed home. The roads were a little better coming home. When we got home it was time to go to Shay's recital and as soon as she finished her last dance she had a Christmas music performance at the middle school and me and Shawn had his company Christmas Party in Delta. So we left with just enough time to make it to Delta and Shay went on to the middle school where my mom and dad were there to watch her sing. I'm glad that day is over. Here are some pics of Shay's dance recital. They also had a tumbling performance and she threw her back flip for the first time (kind of hard to get a picture of).

15 years

Shawn and I celebrated our fifteenth wedding anniversary this week. I can't believe that it has been that long. Shawn is my best friend. I herd a saying once about being married is like having a sleepover every night with you best friend I feel like it is that way with Shawn. I am so thankful for such a good husband and dad to our kids. For our anniversary we went to Salt Lake and went to the body exhibit at the Leonardo (yucky but interesting). Then we went to the imax for a movie and after that we went to the roof at the Joseph Smith memorial building for dinner(expensive but very good). Then we spent the night at the anniversary inn in the hay loft. I t was a good time. I love you babe!
